Black and White

Another one of those days when your mind picks out all the things that are going wrong in your life. Instead of focusing on your accomplishments, you recall all failures, letdowns and inconveniences in your life. You realize that there is so much room for improvement. It does motivate you to do more and do better, but at some point you simply realize that you are just too tired. You are tired of pretending to be ok, of putting on a smile when on the inside you are crying, of hoping to find your own acceptance and never quite getting there. At that same time you realize that if you don’t do all those things, if you let yourself go and just stop trying, you will get yourself into the deepest and darkest rut and it will be almost impossible to get out of there. So you pick yourself up and you keep going. Don’t give up – it’s worth all the effort!

Those Days

There are days when you wake up in the morning and realize that all the stress, all the sadness, all the negativity is something you made up, something that does not exist and is simply a device to keep us motivated in a way. Those days, you remind yourself yet again that life is good and there is so much to be grateful for. Those days make you return to your favorite activities and hobbies, make you finally dabble into something you have been considering for a while but were unable to bring yourself to actually do; those days you take a 1.5-hour ride to see your friend whom you have not seen in a very long time. You realize that there is so much within your reach to draw inspiration from. Those days you start making plans and you try to hold on to this blissful feeling. Let's make sure those days are more frequent.

Appreciate

Have you ever wondered what life principals underlie every step of your way? How can one person have a family at 20 years old, and another person be single until their 30s? How can one person get a promotion within the first year of working for a company and another have to wait for years to get a raise? How can one person know from their very childhood what their strengths are and pursue their hobby or career from the start and another take years to figure out what they enjoy and are good at? The truth is - everything in our lives has to be deserved. Sounds kind of scary and burdening, right? But it's not! It does not mean we have to work ourselves to the point of exhaustion, stop sleeping and eating if we want to get a "point" towards our dreams; on the contrary, all we have to do is put ourselves together, accept our current state, be grateful for what we have, and do something small towards (1) achieving out goals (for those who know their goals); (2) figuring out what their goals are; (3) just being a better person by becoming kinder to ourselves and to people around us. We have always been taught to get out of out comfort zone to learn something new and become a more well-rounded person. Well maybe it's time to get IN our comfort zone? Maybe it's time to do what we like, because when we do find that place in life – the place where we feel great and there is no personal growth anymore but more of just dealing with a routine – getting out of that comfort zone becomes meaningful. However, not have found that place and trying to get out it (not even having been there yet) is simply pushing our limits for no reason.

I guess what I’m trying to say in this mind-boggling post is that the bottom line for achieving something in our lives is this: We need to put our lives together before we can move on to the next stage of the journey. The search for ‘bigger and better’ is great, but don’t let it govern your life before you can appreciate what you already have. Do that and THEN you’ll see the changes.

Summery Outfit

Catching the final warm-weather days in this summery outfit. I’m happy I wore this skirt at least once (yep, it's been lying in my closet since the beginning of the summer) before putting it away for the upcoming wintry months.
