At Lunch-Break

Just a few pictures I took during my lunch-break. I was happy today to wear this skirt. Why? Because I think I've had it for almost three years now, and I'm pretty sure today was the first time I actually wore it somewhere.
Today I decided to play a little with color-blocking, and chose three bold colors for my outfit. It's a perfect way to spice up a work outfit - it's still professional, but with a little something-something.

Feeling Gray

I woke up today in kind of a gray, foggy mood, so it's not surprising that I chose to wear gray tones today. Not that I was in a bad mood - just tired, I guess. However, I am happy it's the end of Wednesday The Hump Day, as it means the bigger portion of the work week is over. I am especially happy about it due to the fact that I get to go to my parents' house this weekend and spend some wonderful time with them.

Simple, Casual, Cute

There is something about this plain white shirt that makes me love it so much! It's nothing special, I know, but for some reason whenever I put it on, it makes me feel so good, comfortable and confident. To spice up its casualness a little, I chose to put on these red shoes.
These pictures are taken in Bryant Park - one of my favorite stops in NYC. It's so tiny, but so beautiful!

Rain, Rain Go Away

All day today it was pouring rain. I got soaked when I left the apartment to get to work this morning, and it started pouring on the way back home as well. However, I still was able to catch a minute to take a few pictures of my outfit.
Usually such weather puts me in the worst mood ever, as it gets really gray outside, today, however, it actually did not feel bad at all. While the majority of people found this weather dreary and depressing, I enjoyed watching the streets of New York get cleaner and brighter with every second the thick layer of rain fell down on the roads and pavements. For me, this kind of weather made the appearance of the city even more beautiful and mysterious... Hmm, I have no idea where this romanticism is coming from... I guess I'm just happy Monday's over?
{I tried to capture how beautiful it looked, but I'm not going to give myself any credit - the picture definitely did not turn out the way I wanted it to}

The Met

It's Sunday night again. Is it just me or do weekend really fly a gazillion times faster than work weeks? In any case, at least my weekend turned out to be quite productive - I finished unpacking, cleaned my apartment, cooked delicious meals, and today I got to attend the Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations exhibition at the Met with my friends. It was wonderful - I highly recommend it for those living/staying/visiting New York City this summer.

Heatwave

So, so, so sorry for such delay! The thing is I JUST got internet today. Let me tell you - a week with no internet in a new place is no fun. I felt so disconnected from society. However, it's over now - I'm finally back on virtual track.

My first week in New York City was quite overwhelming. Between starting a new job, getting used to living on my own in the city and living away from my family and friends, as well as not having the Internet, which made me feel extremely disconnected from the society (and, obviously, all of you reading this post), the “cherry on top” was the heatwave we all had to deal with in the middle of the week. However, I am one of those people who are always cold plus in our office it’s freezing, so for me it did not feel that bad. My solution: flow-y top to wear in the heat, and a jacket to keep me warm inside. A pair of bright blue heels and a light colored bag just add summer-y feel to the outfit. After all, I did wear it on June 20 – the first day of summer.

THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTED...

From the moment I visited New York City for the first time around 5 years ago (my mom and I moved to the United States from Russia in 2006, and our Russian Embassy is located in Manhattan, so we had to go there regarding our documents), I have dreamed of living and working in "the city that never sleeps." I have been imagining myself working hard at a Manhattan company, walking through the busy streets of the city every day, exploring all the hidden nooks and corners, checking out various parks and new opening exhibitions, shows, restaurants and clubs, shopping in the best stores, and appreciating everything the city has to offer - in other words, being a true New Yorker at heart.
Well, sometimes, when you wish for something just hard enough (and work towards it hard enough, too), dreams do come true. Believe it or not, but five years later, I am now a part of an amazing company located in midtown Manhattan and I live in my dream city.
My apartment is still a complete mess and I am still a stranger to so many things here, but I am happy and I am excited to "start my life over," making it the Big City. So here's where it all starts...

{Never thought that moving out from my parents' house would be so difficult - I cried over all of these boxes and bags, remembering all the things that went on in this place.
PS: this is just a part of my packed things}

I'm Moving...

Hello, hello! Forgive me for such lousy job lately - my posts have been missing for a while now. However, I have a good excuse: I'm moving - both physically and my website-wise.
As I mentioned before, I am moving to New York City to start a new job and to enjoy living in the city of my dreams. Since this move is a true moment of starting over, I decided I should start a new website, which will focus more on trying to stay fashionable in business world and on my overall new lifestyle diaries. This is a little sad for me since HotPinkCouture was my first outlet of inspiration, but at the same time I think I'm ready for a change. So please, follow me now on Coffee and Glamour, and I hope you find it interesting, inspirational and fun. You can read the explanation of my new blog's name under the "About" button.
Please remember - you're always welcome to leave comments, as I will take them very seriously to improve my site and to continue/change my trends.
Thank you very much for all your time and support!
I wish you all best of luck!
xoxo Olga

Weekly IDEAS

For four years, ever since I started taking the take to college at Swarthmore, PA station, I have known about Swarthmore College, as it is located right across the road from the station. However, even though I also heard about how beautiful their campus is, I have never actually been there. Today, college students organized a “Trash to Treasure” yard sale, and while we have not found anything there, since we were already there, we decided to walk around the campus given the opportunity. What can I say – it truly is gorgeous! For this week’s Weekly IDEAS I will provide you with some photos we took today at the Swarthmore College. Hope you enjoy!

Weekly IDEAS

With days staying sunny and warm, I am more and more tempted to go to the beach. Even more so, after having gone to Atlantic City last weekend and seeing their new hotel/casino Revel, which really impressed me with its modern décor and variety of entertainment, the temptation is even higher. However, I am a little too busy to go anywhere right now since it’s about time I find an apartment in NYC to be ready to start my new amazing, exciting job in mid-June.  While I can’t necessarily go to the shore, I can still dream, right? That is why I am focusing most of this week’s Weekly IDEAS on snapshots from the hotel taken last week.  Even simply looking at it makes me happy J
