Farewell Lunch

Today I had the most wonderful time having my farewell lunch with my sweet ex-coworkers  from the Delaware County Literacy Council. I have known these people almost as much as I have been in the United States, and they truly have become my real family. They were always there for me, supporting me and encouraging me to strive for my goals and dreams to make them come true. It is always sad to leave a place that is so dear to your heart, but I think it is a good thing to leave with sad feelings as it means that you had great time there. Thank you, everyone, so very much for all your kindness, patience, motivation and advice! Thank you for always being there for me, for sharing my achievements and my worries (for every exam, there was a "Oh I don't even know... It was so difficult, I really don't know how I did on this one" scare). Thank you for always hearing me out and finding just the right words to say when I needed it the most. I will always remember you all, as I cannot even describe how much you have contributed to my personal and professional growth and well-being. Thank you!!!

Happy Belated Memorial Day

For this year's Memorial Day my family and friends went to Atlantic City, NJ to lie in the sun and check out The Revel, a new hotel/casino that opened just recently. We had a truly amazing time, having fun on the beach and enjoying a soft ocean breeze. I even got to dance Zumba on the boardwalk! And the hotel is absolutely gorgeous! Definitely staying there some time soon...

Weekly IDEAS

Hello beautiful friends! I know, I have not been very dedicated and productive with my blog lately, but the thing is I just graduated from college, and I am waiting for work to start, so I have this month or so to just relax and not do anything. That is why even though I do feel bad about not doing so much anymore, I do at the same time enjoy not doing anything, recollecting my energy and celebrating receiving my degree and turning 22 years old - all in the short period of one week. This week's Weekly IDEAS contain pieces from different events that have happened during this week. Here they are

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Yes, today is indeed my birthday - my big 22! So far the day has been just wonderful and full of pleasant surprises: in the morning, a friend stopped by and gave me my favorite flowers - pink peonies, then I went to Philadelphia with my girlie CJ from Butters and Dash for some sushi, coffees and a little shopping, and for dinner, we are having a nice family gathering with BBQ and some awesome champagne; and at last, the weather have been simply amazing all day! Happy, happy birthday to me!!!

It’s funny how sometimes one simple thing leads to another and then another, and as a result you have this whole chain of random events and memories that bring you to some kind of realization or conclusion. This time it all started on Monday night, when I was watching Dancing with the Stars, and on the show they played one of the songs from one of my favorite moves Dance with Me. It made me want to watch the movie, so on Tuesday night I put on the movie, watching which reminded me of my days as a professional dancer, which was approximately 7 years ago but is still so dear to my heart it often makes me want to cry when I see some dance action and realize I am not a pat of it anymore. It’s one of those things where once you’ve tried it once it kind of stays with you forever. After I watched the movie I got motivated to dig up my old dancing pictures form Russia, which lead me to stumble across all the pictures of my childhood I brought from Russia, and that undoubtedly made me experience a bad case of nostalgia for all the things I did and was.

This whole process can probably be linked to the fact that my birthday is tomorrow. I feel like every year right before my birthday I get sad and nostalgic; I start remembering things and thinking of things I have not accomplished. It’s like you sum up your year, and more so your life up to this point. While I think it’s completely normal to feel this way, what’s important is not to stay stuck in this condition but to move forward focusing on your achievements and future goals. Life goes on, and there is always something new and exciting that can compensate for the other things. After all I believe everything does happen (or not happen) for a reason.

In this post, I just wanted to share some of those bright memories of my childhood and a give you a bit of my personal history lesson.
