Angry School Teacher

There was the time, a very long time ago, when I wanted to be a school teacher. I would sit all my stuffed toys down on the sofa, pick up a piece of chalk and start drawing different math problems on a piece of wooden board my granddad would bring out from his garage. I remember it used to make me feel so smart and cool. However, the time has passed, I have grown more stubborn and impatient, and 10 or so years later I wouldn’t be caught dead teaching. Actually, the only dead-ones would probably be the kids who would soon realize just how annoyed I get trying to educate somebody.
For some reason putting on this outfit reminded me of my school teachers back in Russia. They always looked so well put-together with their pressed pencil skirts or trousers, flawlessly ironed shirts and tops, and their hair done up. If I were to come in for an interview, I would totally qualify!

Weekly IDEAS

There is one and only thing that’s on my mind right now (and has been on my mind for a while) – the Oscars is on tonight! I absolutely love all red carpet events, I think it is a great and fabulous way to spend Sunday night (and you don’t even feel guilty spending it in front of  the TV).
I was thinking maybe next year I will start hosting red carpet parties. Anyone with passion for fashion is invited! You know, people crazy about sports have superbowl parties, we fashion-lovers are more into the glitz and glamour of red carpet events.
This week's Weekly IDEAS show what exactly I did this weekend - went shopping and had LOTS of coffee J

Shorts and Tights

I bought these shorts quite a long time ago, but for some reason I was not brave enough to wear them out. I know - lame, right? Finally today I was in the mood to embrace the pair of abandoned shorts, especially that the weather forecast predicted a beautiful day with 58 degrees. You know what I realized after wearing these to college today? Shorts with solid tights are an awesome combination - together they provide enough coverage to be worn even in the winter and they feel extremely comfortable and freeing. So this trend - totally a "love"!

Not Interchangeable

You know how some clothes are perfectly interchangeable in a way that you can style them for any season of the year and they totally work? Don't you just love those? Personally I do - they are fun to play with, and they can add a hint of uniqueness to an outfit. While I do like this cardigan worn in the winter, I do have to say that it is definitely a summer piece.  Worn under a coat it ends up looking like it's been chewed on by some not very nice animal. For the entire day I was occupied with trying to make sure I didn't look like I just rolled out of bed.

Weekly IDEAS

Right now I'm trying to sneak a minute to post my Weekly IDEAS - we have people over our house and there's amazing food and wonderful drinks. See how responsible and dedicated I am!

Black and Yellow

Every night I go to bed with a fun, cute idea for my next day's outfit, but then every morning I wake  up into darkness and cold, and I immediately change my mind, opting out for something more comfortable and warm. I know - bad blogger, bad!

Pre-Valentine's Day Gift

It’s great to have people in our lives who truly love us. However, I think the most important thing is to love our own selves. Every single one of us is special and unique, and it is important to remember that. Having role models is great, but don’t try to become someone as you may lose your true self in the process. As for me, I declare this Valentine’s Day [tomorrow] to be the day when I decided to truly start loving myself and treating myself right. And to start it off, today I went out and bought two amazingly beautiful pairs of shoes as a pre-Valentine’s Day gift to myself (which you will definitely see, just a little later). Do you treat yourself to anything on Valentine’s Day?

Weekly IDEAS

This weekend started out wonderfully – with me paying a visit to my favorite café Burlap & Bean, located in Newtown Square, PA. Hence, my inspiration for this week’s Weekly IDEAS is simply the beautiful sign with the specials of the month from outside the café. And of course, since Fashion Week is in its full blossoming (I wish I could be there!), other pictures are fashion-related.

I know, I know, who couldn't have put something like this together? But in my defense, all this winter atmosphere makes me want to go simple these days, and adding some "spice" with a touch of yellow and orange is a great way to brighten up a winter outfit without overdoing it.

Monday, February 6, 2012

I woke up extremely tired today. In the back of my sleepy mind I had an idea to just hit the snooze button and keep sleeping. There's nothing wrong with missing a class every once in a while, is there? After contemplating the idea for a few minutes, my responsible, reasonable consciousness finally overpowered my laziness and I got up and went to college. When I walked into class I was told that the class was cancelled! I always say my intuition always does me wrong; however, every once in a while I wish I actually listened to it - it's not so tricky after all.
On the same note, at least I opted out for wearing comfy sweater and pants. My outfit was quite boring today but that was actually exactly what I needed.

Weekly IDEAS

This weekend had been pretty low-key. Well, actually, not so much. We hosted two parties at our house and I did a whole bunch of homework (although I do wish now that I dedicated a little more time for that). I’m a little tired but content from all the socializing with our family friends. Here are a few of my Weekly IDEAS:

{Our sunny Philadelphia}

[home] Décor
{Wanamaker Organ at Macy’s store in Philadelphia – not exactly a decorative piece you’d want to keep at your house, but it looks impressive in the store}

{Caprese salad – easy and tasty}

Messed up

Friday! Finally!
I believe you get the idea of how “wonderful” this week has been. Well, what can I say: I seriously messed up… a long time ago, too. The thing is I am a type of person who plans everything in advance. I also am a type of person who does all the “dirty” work first leaving the “tastiest part of the meal” for the end. So when I started college 4 years ago, I knew it would be smart to work harder in the beginning of my college career, so I could relax my final semester, taking only 3 or 4 classes, so I could get a breather before entering the “real world.” Well, not so much. A few classed got dropped along the way, a few “useless” classes have been taken, and I ended up with 6 classes my final semester! Fun! It’s only the end of week 3, but feels like this semester has been going on forever. What’s even worse is that with all the studying I’m left with less time for my precious baby blog
L So I apologize for being so inconsistent with my posts!
And I thought I was good at planning/organizing… Do you think I should take “great organizational skills” off my resume?
