Making Spirits Bright...

And here it is again - Christmas Day, the day when families get together to share their joy and happiness, the day when children (and adults) cannot wait to wake up in the morning and start unwrapping those beautiful boxes under the Christmas tree, the day when everyone becomes just a little bit kinder and little bit closer to each other, and when it is just natural to keep thanking people around us for simply being in our lives...
I wish everyone a very very merry Christmas! May you and your families enjoy each other's company and take this time to truly appreciate having each other! May all your dreams and wishes come true and may your lives be full of smiles and laughter!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Second Annual Xmas Party

Yesterday's second annual party at our friends' house was an official opener for this year's holiday season. As always, the gathering was a blast, with lots of laughs, games, dancing, singing, and just plain fooling around and being silly. Their house looked absolutely amazing, which added to the overall mood of the celebration.
For my outfit, I chose this blue leopard print dress, which I dressed up with a bright jacket and shoes in contrasting colors.

{We were visited by Ded Moroz, Russian Santa,  and Snegurochka, his granddaughter, who brought me a gift!}

{I'm wearing my gift here - a new pair of boots. Santa was very generous}

Seasons

Boy, is it getting cold fast! Today was a beautiful day - sitting in the office looking outside the window that is; however, having stepped out for lunch at some point during the day jolted me right back to realization that winter is right around the corner.
These pictures were taken some time in the summer when a simple cardigan was enough of a cover-up on a chilly day. This makes me so nostalgic! I am, however, a person of four seasons, and while cold is not a pleasant side effect of this season, all the holiday atmosphere and anticipation completely makes up for all the inconveniences.

Hang In There, NYC ♥

What a devastation has Sandy brought on! I have been watching the news pretty much non-stop throughout the day, as I am trapped in my apartment working from home and unable to commute anywhere due to the suspension of the entire subway system. My head just starts spinning when I think about the fact that such powerful, independent, and self-motivated city as New York was completely paralyzed by the events of the past two days. As a true New York aficionada, my heart and soul go out to you, NYC!
Here are a few pics from last summer. It was a beautiful night full of fun and true NYC experiences. It was nice to dress up for a great dinner out, then walk through the night streets of the never-sleeping city, and visiting the M&M store was just a sweet candy on top.

Navy and Red

This might be one of the most cliche color combinations, but it is timeless. Red and blue are complete color opposites, yet put together they create an interesting and fun outfit.

Leopard and Sequins

I simply fell in love with this top when I saw it in the store. It incorporates two of my most favorite fashion elements - animal print and sequins; and despite the fact that each one of those elements is such a statement on its own, having both of them in one item of clothing does not make it tacky or outlandish. There is just enough of each ingredient to pull together a sophisticated and beautiful look. Since the top in itself is such a bold item, I paired it with simple skinny pants and black high heels to balance out the outfit.

Burgundy and Wine

On one of the fall's beautiful days, I went into a Joe Fresh store on 5th Avenue and was fortunate enough to find this burgundy hat that just so happened to go perfectly with the sleeveless cardigan I was wearing that day. I am usually not big on hats - I mean I absolutely love them and greatly admire people who can pull them off, but I myself end up buying them and stacking them in the back of my closet. There is always an excuse not to wear them: it'll make my hair flat, it's too hot to wear one, and now that I cut my bags all the blame is always on them. So typically I try to stay away from buying hats and focus my attention and money on something I am certain I will actually wear (I know, how very economical of me). However, this time I just couldn't stay away.
To add to the whole matching theme that day, please note how the decor of the restaurant goes just flawlessly with my outfit and a glass of red wine is just a perfect finishing tough.

Animal Print

There is a certain kind of power in an animal print-dress. Especially in the one that fits you well and is paired with fun accessories and vibrant colors. I am so grateful that the weather keeps spoiling us - despite the grey sky and the rain, warm temperature lets me catch up on the outfits I didn't get a chance to wear over the summer. This dress is a great versatile piece to have in your closet - it can be easily transformed from a work outfit worn with a jacket and conservative shoes to a going-out outfit worn by itself with edgy accessories and cool shoes.
